Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Cortex DeSci platform (“Platform”), including our website at cortexdesci.xyz, browser extension, and smart contracts, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

2. Description of Service

Cortex DeSci is a decentralized science platform that enables users to extract, submit, and verify biomedical knowledge triplets from academic papers. Contributors earn CXS tokens as rewards for valid contributions to the open knowledge graph.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into binding agreements. You are responsible for ensuring your use of the Platform complies with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction.

4. User Accounts & Wallets

• You are solely responsible for maintaining the security of your wallet private keys and passwords.
• We cannot recover lost private keys or reverse blockchain transactions.
• You must not create multiple accounts to game the reward system (Sybil attack).
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your wallet address.

5. Mining & Rewards

• $CXS rewards are paid from a fixed daily pool, split among that day's accepted submissions by contribution quality and novelty. Your share depends both on what you submitted and on how many others submitted that day.
• The pool is funded by trading fees and, when fee income falls short, by the project treasury. It is not a minted emission and it is not guaranteed — if the treasury is exhausted, rewards stop.
• The daily pool target is reviewed quarterly and any change is published before it takes effect. We may also adjust quality thresholds and anti-abuse limits to keep the network usable.
• Submitting deliberately false, fabricated, or plagiarized triplets may result in reputation penalties and reward forfeiture.

6. Intellectual Property

Knowledge triplets submitted to the Cortex DeSci knowledge graph are licensed under CC BY 4.0 (Creative Commons Attribution). By submitting triplets, you grant a perpetual, worldwide license for the data to be freely used, shared, and built upon with attribution. The Platform software, branding, and proprietary technology remain the intellectual property of Cortex DeSci.

7. Prohibited Conduct

• Submitting fabricated, misleading, or intentionally incorrect scientific data
• Operating multiple wallets to exploit reward mechanisms (Sybil attacks)
• Attempting to manipulate the scoring engine or consensus mechanism
• Interfering with platform infrastructure, APIs, or smart contracts
• Using automated tools to mass-submit low-quality triplets
• Violating any applicable laws or regulations

8. Disclaimers

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, the accuracy of knowledge graph data, specific reward amounts, or the market value of CXS tokens. CXS tokens are utility tokens for the Cortex DeSci ecosystem and should not be considered investment products.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cortex DeSci shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to: loss of tokens, loss of data, loss of profits, smart contract vulnerabilities, or blockchain network issues.

10. Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the Platform. Continued use after modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation before pursuing formal legal proceedings.
